Open Up Your Kitchen!

At Facelift for Homes, we’re all about lifestyle. We can create your new kitchen servery window in aluminium, timber or PVC in various colours and configurations to suit your space. Our structural alteration ideas help you bring the outside in – except for the bugs! To make your beautiful bifold servery windows even more functional, we offer our popular retractable insect screen, RetractAscreen. Custom-made and professionally installed, our RetractAscreen is a discreet and practical solution to keeping insects outside where they belong!

Kitchen servery windows are a popular choice when entertaining and when the party’s over—we’ve thought of that too. Designed and installed to our exacting specifications, we’ve placed equal emphasis on security and weather resistance for your peace of mind.

Aluminium Gas Strut Servery Windows

Variously referred to as gas strut windows or gas lift windows, this is a great window to transform a kitchen! A push-out window was ‘just okay’ for passing food and drinks between the kitchen window and outdoor entertaining area, but the installation of the gas lift window not only improved functionality but beautifully framed the view. The gas struts are neatly concealed within the frame when closed and engineered to the exact PSI to hold the window up when open. Open for entertaining or closed and locked for security, it’s a panoramic view!

About this project:

This project was completed in five hours including rubbish removal and site cleanup at end of works. The frame was externally sealed and aluminium trim fixed for weatherproofing and internal hardwood architraves professionally installed then caulked to prevent water damage. The gas strut window took 6 weeks to make and we later returned (after tiling, painting etc. was completed) to install a pull-down RetractAscreen. The overall cost for the new gas lift window and RetractAscreen was just under $8,000. This was a single glazed aluminium gas strut window; the same in double-glazed is around $7,000 excluding the RetractAscreen.

Creating a Gas Lift Servery

This gas strut window with solid timber servery sill gave the whole kitchen a lift! Our client had put up with the old sliding window as a makeshift servery for too enough (their words!) so called our expert designers in to create a whole new level of functionality. Nowadays, entertaining their ever expanding family is a breeze particularly with the addition of the solid timber Tasmanian oak servery sill. The seamless transition from kitchen to outdoor area has vastly improved both functionality and connection; the cook’s no longer cut off from the party! In their quieter moments, the seamless window provides a beautiful view to the garden whether open or closed.

About this project:

The gas lift window was manufactured in just 8 weeks and took 6 hours to remove the old sliding window and install the new gas strut window complete with keyed lock (yes they are lockable!). Our team of carpenters selected a magnificent slab of Tasmanian Oak and crafted it to neatly fit above the sill bricks to finish this beautiful servery. All up including the timber sill the budget was around $6,500. Adding a matching pull-down RetractAscreen will be around $1200 after all the painting’s finished and the servery sill is sealed.

Gas Strut Window in Weatherboard

After a major internal kitchen renovation, the gas lift server proved a winner over the new stone bench to the alfresco. The light coming into this kitchen is greatly enhanced by the large expanse of glass in the gas strut servery. Open or closed this looks absolutely incredible and keeps everyone connected when entertaining or cooking up a storm whilst the kids are playing outside. Adding a pull-down RetractAscreen will keep the bugs outside where they belong when the alfresco area is completed. As you can see there’s plenty of room to swing the servery open below the eaves and the windows and door on the other side are being replaced as part of the stage two renovations.

About this project:

This was originally a weatherboard wall so we had to cut that out to create the opening for the new gas strut window. This required a Domestic Building Permit (Architect, Structural Engineer, Building Surveyor) and Domestic Building Insurance. Our team of experts cut the aperture, installed a lintel and new framing, installed the window, new architraves, external sealing and weatherproofing at a cost of $18,000 including rubbish removal. All in a day’s work for our meticulous carpenters!

Aluminium 3 Panel Bifold Servery

Creating that café feel in your home is easy with Bifold Windows. Bifold windows were the original servery solution for connecting the kitchen to the great outdoors. Often times the existing window cavity is too tight or the eaves too low for other styles of servery windows, so the bifold window is a great choice when looking to give your kitchen a new lease of life. Fully lockable and easy to operate, the humble Bifold
Window allows for full servery use or to just let in a bit (or a lot) of fresh air.

About this project:

Starting at around $6500 installed, an aluminium bifold window this size generally takes around 3-4 hours for professional installation. It comes complete with keyed locks and has a sturdy top and bottom track system for easy cleaning and maintenance. You can even add a RetractAscreen as a pull-down or pull-across depending on the size and your preferred configuration.

Beautiful Timber Bifolds

Well now here’s a total Bifold Window Makeover if ever we’ve done one! Our client just loves opening up their home whether for the fresh air or to create the ultimate entertaining experience. The old timber bank of windows and doors was rotting and cold in winter and a bit bland on visual appeal. Building the Bifold Windows from the kitchen to create a servery and carrying the hilites through to the main lounge Bifold Doors brought a new level of elegance to this home. The use of timber really added to the character!

About this project:

Removal of the old structure, re-framing and replacing of support timbers gave our team of expert tradies just the type of challenge they love. Putting all their carpentry and glazing skills into work, they set about over two days completely transforming the back of this home. The windows and doors are made from Victorian Ash and blend beautifully with the brickwork. Because of the ever-changing landscape in terms of timber pricing we’re just not game to speculate what this would cost in today’s market!

Stacker Servery Window

Aluminium Stacker Window Servery

Sometimes there’s just no swing space or headroom outside so a Stacker Window is a great alternative to enhance your kitchen. The tired old awning window just looked dreadful with this renovated kitchen, so replacing it with a modern stacker window was the perfect solution. With two panels sliding in the same direction the opening became much wider and the addition of the timber sill created easy access to the barbecue and outdoor dining area. Lazy Sunday lunches with the family are a breeze with this innovative approach to serveries – who said stackers could only be doors!

About this project:

Manufacturing took about 6 weeks and removal of the existing window and sill tiles and surface prep about 1 hour. Installation of the new window including new internal architraves, external sealing and trims and installation of the Tasmanian Oak Sill took around 4 hours including cleanup and rubbish removal all at a cost of $5100. This was a single glazed aluminium framed stacker servery; we also offer double glazed units!
