Sliding Window Replacements Melbourne
Aluminium sliding windows from Facelift for Homes are the ultimate low maintenance, low-cost window for homes across Melbourne. With very few moving parts, this classic design will suit most architectural styles as it provides functionality, security and structural integrity. Aluminium sliding windows are non-projecting and therefore ideal where you have space restrictions, such as the laundry, bathroom and kitchen, or where other window styles just won’t work.
The effortless opening and closing action of the operating sash is achieved through the design of the low friction rollers running smoothly along an aluminium track. The frame is fully weather sealed to minimise draughts, dust and moisture intrusion, and it features interlocking sashes for increased window strength.
As with all our windows and doors, our aluminium sliding windows’ specification exceeds Australian Standards. They are professionally installed, complete with insect screens and keyed security locks. They provide genuine value for money and long-term benefits to the homeowner. Options are available for glazing to accommodate improved thermal and acoustic performance, as well as configurations for single or double opening panels.

Modern and Durable Aluminium Sliding Windows
As a practical and less expensive style, the humble sliding window is a great choice as a space saver.
The old timber casement windows opened outwards which was a hassle for anyone walking past, so the sliding window was a great and practical choice for this sunroom. Aluminium sliding windows have come a long way since the 1960s with better choices in colours and finishes – who can forget the good old plain aluminium or bronze rattlers! The new powder coating finishes give an almost unlimited choice in colours and the easyglide systems nowadays mean no more jamming, corrosion or choice language…
About this project:
We removed the rotted windows and part of the studwall/framing that also had rot, and installed the new windows complete with new internal plasterboard and architraves. We then applied sealant around the frame and finished with broad-extrusion aluminium architraves for a fresh and tidy new look, all ready to be rendered as part of this overall renovation. As with all our windows, we made them complete with flyscreens and keyed locks (takes about 4 weeks) and installed them in a day. As a guide it costs around $1,800 for a window this size single glazed custom-made and professionally installed as part of a larger project.
Aluminium Sliding Window Double Glazing
More glass + Less frame = More light – a double-glazed aluminium sliding window gave this room a lift both inside and out.
The old timber window looking onto a narrow courtyard style garden on a battleaxe block felt claustrophobic, cold and dark. Replacing it with this powder coated aluminium sliding window with low transom improved the view from the inside and looks neat and secure from the outside. The double glazed panels offer better energy efficiency in the cold weather and improved security being on the quiet side of the house.
About this project:
In the process of removing the old windows we noticed the architraves were different from the rest of the house so we sourced a close match molded style in primed hardwood for a classy finish. The new window took 5 weeks to make and 3 hours to replace with all rubbish removed from site and curtains re-installed on completion at a cost of just under $4K
Aluminium Sliding Windows
Sometimes the kitchen’s just an uninteresting space, but with a simple sliding window you can gaze upon the garden, pass food and drinks to your family at the barbecue, or slide it open to tempt your neighbours with the delightful aromas of your Sunday roast!
About this project:
The old timber wind-out window had rotted beyond repair, so we removed it and replaced it with this single-glazed semicommercial frame aluminium sliding window complete with keyed lock and we were even able to put back the existing blind. Looks great from both inside and outside and with the fresh white powder coating finish it really gave this kitchen a real lift for a mere $1,900 within the larger project – all custom-made and professionally installed, 4 weeks’ manufacturing and 3 hours to professionally install including site-cleanup at end of works.
Aluminium Lowlite Sliding Window
The wide centre-lite and low transoms in this aluminium sliding window transformed the view from the living room.
As a north facing window, this is a delightful space in winter and the awning blind keeps the sun off the glass during the warmer months. Sometimes double glazing is just not an option if you’re working to a tight budget, so this client opted for single glazed laminated safety glass for better acoustic insulation as the heat factor was not a huge consideration. Lowering the transom makes for an easy, uninterrupted view when sitting down and the narrow sliding panels with slimline stiles finish the look beautifully.
About this project:
We removed the old timber windout windows and the awning blind, replaced the internal framing and installed the new aluminium window within 4 hours including new internal architraves and external aluminium trim. Manufacturing lead-time was 5 weeks, our trusty tradies vacuumed, swept, loaded up the rubbish in our trailer, put the awning blind back and gave the glass a quick clean before leaving site. A budget of around $4.5K will typically cover a project of this type.
